"Liberated Heirs"!

In Him we have REDEMPTION through His BLOOD, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His GRACE. Ephesians 1:7

In Biblical redemption, only a CLOSE RELATIVE had the right to purchase someone out of slavery. That’s why God had to become a man in order to be a true KINSMAN-Redeemer! As the incarnate Redeemer, Jesus Christ didn’t pay for our freedom with money – He ransomed us with His own, priceless BLOOD! (1 Tim 2:6); we “were not REDEEMED with perishable things like silver or gold … but with PRECIOUS BLOOD, as of a lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ” (1 Peter 1:18-19), “...not through the blood of goats and calves, but through His own blood, He entered the holy place once for all, having obtained eternal REDEMPTION.” (Heb 9:12)

Now that you’ve “been bought with a price”, Scripture says, “glorify God in your body” (1 Cor 6:20) You have been “justified as a GIFT by His grace through the REDEMPTION which is in Christ Jesus.” (Rom 3:24), “rescued from the domain of darkness, and transferred to the kingdom of His beloved Son, in whom we have REDEMPTION, the forgiveness of sins.” (Col 1:13-14) HALLELUJAH!

But that’s not all! ...

“God sent forth His Son, … to REDEEM those under the Law, that we might receive ADOPTION as sons … Therefore, you are NO LONGER A SLAVE, but a SON; and if a son, then an HEIR through God!” (Gal 4:4-7) Friends, what a GIFT!

What a CONTRAST! I don’t know if you’ve ever been jailed before? I have. Many times. It is very sparse in a cell – just a mat on the floor, and a seat-less toilet bowl – doesn’t look like an inheritance! It’s one thing to set a prisoner free - it’s a whole other thing to break bad habits. I was a repeat-offender, but thank God, He is a repeat-Forgiver! He not only “sets the captives free, and opens prison doors” (Isaiah 61:1), but He opens His own door to us as heirs, where we are free to enjoy His extravagant generosity!

Father, thank You that I am no longer a slave, but a child of God. Thank you for rescuing me, for adopting me into your family, and for freeing me from the toilet bowl of this world. I love you!
